Kodan and Akiak were on their first real adventure, beyond the one which first brought them together. It had been months since they had first met, on the eve of Akiak’s mother’s death after fighting against the stallion Sirocco. Said stallion had been taken into Mrazan custody personally by Arakses, while he had tended to the elk calf, not that he knew the first thing about being an adoptive parent. Evidently Akiak had chosen him, and hadn’t strayed far from his side since. Now the little one was growing stronger with every day that passed, and was strong enough to withstand travel beyond the borders of Hearthstone. Kodan was itching to get back out into the surrounding lands, particularly because he hadn’t seen Morta in a while, too long as far as he was concerned.
When he’d learned of the appearance of a new land, two new lands, actually, and had managed to arrange a good place for the two of them to meet up, well, needless to say he was eager to get going. He couldn’t fly, however, with Akiak confined to the ground, but he didn’t mind too much. The young bull was already big enough that he could more or less keep up with the stallion without too much effort. It only became easier once they got out of the snow which blanketed Mraz in a thick, hindering swath. They were headed for Muramasa Gorge, a place which was vastly different from Mraz, from temperature to biome itself, and Kodan was not sure what to make of the sea of green which greeted the duo.
Bamboo, as he’d learned it was called, thinner than any trees he knew, and yet so tall they had begun to bend beneath their own weight. They made for a magnificent sight, though he would readily admit he was more focused on adjusting to the warmer temperatures, for which he was not well suited due to his muscular stature and thick coat. Nevertheless, he was in an uncommonly good mood, particularly since he knew Morta would be nearby, and because of the sheer joy and curiosity Akiak faced the world with. The young male was excited to explore and learn more about this novel location, so alien to what he’d known for the short time he’d been alive.
“Morta?” Kodan called, raising his voice somewhat to attempt to allow his voice to carry throughout the thickly grouped shoots. Akiak was already wandering off to see what he could nibble on, starting with the bamboo, evidently, to which Kodan trailed after, baffled, despite this not being a new thing. “Akiak, don’t eat that.” He said, slightly exasperated, but the fondness in his tone showed he held no real ire.
